December 20th marks the conclusion of CUPE Manitoba’s “Stronger Together” workplace campaign for the United Way. This year, CUPE Manitoba was proud to present the United Way of Winnipeg with a $10,000 cheque, in addition to separate contributions to the United Way in Brandon and in the Pembina Valley (Morden/Winkler).
United Way of Winnipeg Labour Director Madelaine Dwyer received the $10,000 donation in person at the Union Centre today (with her son, Mason). The donation was presented by CUPE Manitoba President Gina McKay, Secretary-Treasurer Mylene Holmes, Executive Assistant Deanna West, and Payroll Officer Wendy Neplyk.
President Mckay said, “CUPE represents more than 15 United Way-funded agencies in the Social Service Sector, and it’s imperative for unions to support and build the community sector, because collective action has collective impact. On behalf of the CUPE Manitoba Executive, we are proud to do our part to help build the community sector in Manitoba.”
