CUPE Manitoba Recognizes National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, September 30th

September 30th is the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. CUPE Manitoba is committed to support reconciliation and justice for all Indigenous Peoples. This important day is also known as Orange Shirt Day, and with thanks to the Manitoba NDP, is now legislated as a Provincial Statutory day in Manitoba.

Orange Shirt Day provides Manitobans with an opportunity to honour the memories of the Indigenous children whose lives were lost in the residential school system, and recognize the strength of the survivors and their families.

CUPE Manitoba is committed to decolonizing through leadership. Today, our members are honoured to join people throughout the province and our country on this day of reflection and learning. As Manitoba’s largest public sector Union, we are committed to working year-round in pursuit of meaningful, lasting reconciliation.
