New Committees & Working Groups Added for Affiliated CUPE Locals in Manitoba!
New Committees & Working Groups Added for Affiliated CUPE Locals in Manitoba!
We are proud to share two (2) new opportunities for Affiliated CUPE Local Members in Manitoba! As we work hard to Build Stronger Locals in Manitoba, many opportunities will be rolled out throughout the year for Sectors, Leaders and Members alike.
What’s New at CUPE Manitoba?

At CUPE Manitoba’s 2025 Convention, delegates voted to adopt two (2) Resolutions that will provide an opportunity for members from Affiliated Locals the opportunity to join in 2026.
The first Resolution, B2: Environment Committee called for an “Environmental Committee” be added as an Issue-Based Committee in the CUPE Manitoba Bylaws.
The rationale? Because the planet is currently in the midst of an ongoing environmental and climate crisis, humans are a major driving factor of this ongoing crisis, and as labour activists, we can and should take a leading role in fighting to protect our planet.
Please contact your Local President for information on the voting delegation process, and to share your interest in participating on the new Environmental Committee.
If you are interested in becoming a delegate/alternate to represent your Local on a committee, contact your Local President and share your interest.

The second Resolution adopted at the 2025 CUPE Manitoba Convention, L17 – Skilled Trades Working Group called for CUPE Manitoba to establish a Skilled Trades Working Group in Manitoba.
CUPE Manitoba is proud to announce the first meeting of the new Skilled Trades Working Group to help facilitate workers in the skilled trades and allied fields to address pressing issues in their fields and to strategize on improving working conditions in Manitoba.
The rationale? Because Skilled Trades workers are an important part of keeping public services functioning, their employers have often shown a lack of respect for their jobs, and at a recent CUPE Skilled Trades Summit in New Brunswick called for tradespeople to step up and get further involved.
Each Affiliated Local will have an opportunity to assign delegates to the Working Group. Please contact your Local President for information as each Local will have their own process for assigning delegates.
