CUPE 3873 Library Technicians Celebrate Ratification of New Collective Agreement in River East Transcona School Division
WINNIPEG, TREATY 1 – CUPE Local 3873 is pleased to announce that library technicians in the River East Transcona School Division have ratified a new five-year collective agreement.
Over the life of the agreement, wages will increase by well over 30 percent, representing one of the strongest settlements in the education support sector.
The wage increases include annual percentage increases of three percent for each of the first four years, and a two and a half percent increase in the fifth year. On top of these general wage increases, members will also receive an additional $2.00/hour raise this year and next year.
As a result of the agreement:
• A newly hired library technician will see a wage increase of approximately 34 percent over the term of the agreement.
• A senior library technician will receive a wage increase of approximately 30 percent over the same period.
The raises achieved by CUPE 3873 significantly exceeds bargaining patterns and delivers far stronger gains for library technicians in River East Transcona.
“This agreement is a major step forward for our members,” said Wendy Schultz, President of CUPE 3873. “It reflects the skill, dedication, and critical role library technicians play in supporting student learning and school communities.”
CUPE 3873 thanks its members and bargaining committee for their solidarity and commitment throughout negotiations and looks forward to continuing to advocate for fair wages and respect for education workers.
