School Support Workers’ Week September 2025

CUPE Manitoba is proud to recognize the week of September 22 – 26, 2025, as School Support Staff Recognition Week in Manitoba. This important week acknowledges the great work of School Support Staff to our education system.

During this important week we will be celebrating the important contributions of School Support Staff in keeping our schools clean, getting children and youth to school safely and on time, keeping our schools running, shelves stocked with books, and helping our children and youth learn, grow and succeed.

To recognize the 2025 School Support Workers Recognition Week in Manitoba, CUPE Manitoba is featuring a number of initiatives throughout Manitoba!

Highlights include:

CUPE Manitoba “Light the Night for School Support Workers”

On September 22nd at 7:30pmat the Forks where the Winnipeg sign as well as the Esplanade Riel Bridge will be glowing CUPE Pink in recognition of this important week.

Join us for light refreshments and to celebrate at the Winnipeg sign before we head over to see the bridge lights! See the attached poster to share with your Local and to post on your Union boards. We encourage you to take a photo and tag @cupemanitoba on Facebook and Instagram

CUPE Votes! Volunteer & Gathering:

This year, we are also hosting a volunteer CUPE Votes team to support a door knocking canvass in support of Sister Carmen Prefontaine (CUPE 500), who is running for City Councilor in the upcoming City of Winnipeg by-election in Elmwood-East Kildonan.

The canvass is planned for 5:30-7:00 pm on September 22nd. After the canvass, we encourage all to join us at The Forks for “Light the Night for School Support Workers”. Email your interest to: info@cupe.mb.ca.

CUPE Manitoba has officially requested for the Minister of Education & Early Childhood learning to proclaim School Support Staff Recognition Week in Manitoba to recognize and honour your work.
