WINNIPEG, TREATY 1 – Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) employees working at Mobility Assist and Connect (MAC 24/7), who make up the DCSP foot patrol, joined CUPE 500 following a successful card sign campaign under the Manitoba Government’s card check legislation.

“DCSP workers play a critical role in maintaining safety and well-being in downtown Winnipeg,” said Gord Delbridge, President of CUPE 500.

Utility Operators for City of Winkler Join CUPE

WINNIPEG, TREATY 1 – Utility Operators with the City of Winkler have voted to join CUPE following a successful card-signing campaign under Manitoba Government’s card check legislation.

CUPE already represents a wide range of municipal workers across Southern Manitoba, including workers at the City of Morden. “We want to welcome these new members to CUPE,” said Gina McKay, President of CUPE Manitoba.

WINNIPEG, TREATY 1 – Staff at Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc. (Ndinawe) voted overwhelmingly to join CUPE, Canada’s largest union.

Ndinawe is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth in Winnipeg.

“We are very pleased to welcome the staff at Ndinawe into CUPE,” said Gina McKay, CUPE Manitoba President. “The staff at Ndinawe are known for their compassion and tireless efforts for our community’s youth, and CUPE is proud to unite with these workers to help improve their own working environment.

BRANDON – Delegates at the 2019 CUPE Manitoba Convention in Brandon elected Abe Araya as President of the province’s largest union. Abe Araya comes from CUPE Local 110, representing custodians, maintenance, and painters at the Winnipeg School Division.

WINNIPEG – Educational Assistants at the Western School Division chose to become members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees in a vote held by the Manitoba Labour Board on Wednesday.
