PRESS RELEASE: CUPE: More disruption in the WRHA puts additional strain on health care system

“CUPE has been tracking the changes to the health care system closely, and we’ve already reached out to members about the changes announced today,” said Debbie Boissonneault, President of CUPE Local 204, Manitoba’s Health Care Union.

CUPE supports calls to repeal Bill 29.

CUPE members and leadership rallied yesterday to support the Public Service Alliance of Canada's call to repeal Bill 29, the legislations requiring representation votes in the Healthcare Sector.

CUPE has long shared the PSAC's position that these votes throw our healthcare system into even greater levels of chaos than the Conservative government has already created, and puts politics ahead of patient care.

Pallister quick to give himself a raise on the back of front line workers.

This week the Pallister Conservatives created a double standard on public sector wages.

"They made the ridiculous decision to give themselves a massive retroactive raise while forcing a wage freeze on our members," said Terry Egan, President of CUPE Manitoba. "While this Premier is making deals to give himself a massive raise, our members are doing more with less.
