CUPE members and leadership rallied yesterday to support the Public Service Alliance of Canada's call to repeal Bill 29, the legislations requiring representation votes in the Healthcare Sector.
CUPE has long shared the PSAC's position that these votes throw our healthcare system into even greater levels of chaos than the Conservative government has already created, and puts politics ahead of patient care.
The members of CUPE Local 4860,working at the Revera owned Kildonan Personal Care Home voted unanimously to reject the employer’s final offer.
The Employer had given CUPE members an offer for wages that was significantly below what has been agreed to in their other unionized facilities, and CUPE members have decided to stand up and demand to be treated fairly.
CUPE Manitoba was out supporting Cirque du So Gay.

December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women where we take the time to remember and honour the victims of the 1989 shooting at École Polytechnique de Montréal, where 14 women were targeted and killed by a lone gunman because of their gender. One of those women was Maryse Laganière, a CUPE member who worked at the school.
On November 20, workplaces and communities will take the time to observe Transgender Day of Remembrance and commemorate persons who have lost their lives because of anti-trans violence.
Started in 1998 to honour the murder of a young transgender woman in Massachusetts, this day is now marked by ceremonies in cities across Canada and around the world.

Health care support workers held coordinated noon-hour information pickets on July 18 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg and Middlechurch Home in West St. Paul Manitoba, to protest against the provincial governments cuts and changes to health care.

Concordia Hospital health care support staff to hold rally today
Winnipeg – health care support staff at Concordia Hospital are holding a rally on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:30am in front of the Concordia Hospital grounds.
