WINNIPEG – CUPE 204 President Debbie Boissonneault called on the Manitoba Government to postpone newly tabled legislation that would cause the further restructuring of health care, citing the current restructuring and bargaining delays as the reason to wait.
“Three years ago, the government announced they were going to shake up health care and see what happened,” said Debbie Boissonneault, “The government didn’t even wait until the end of the first wave of changes to announce another round of upheaval.
International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on March 8.
Across the country and in Manitoba, CUPE members will be participating in community events to honour the accomplishments of women and those who identify as women, to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality. This day also marks a call to action to end gender based violence in our community and in the workplace.

"Every year we try to increase awareness about Black history,” said CUPE Manitoba President Gord Delbridge. “While we celebrate for the month of February, we must also acknowledge that the struggle for justice and equality must continue all year long.
WINNIPEG – CUPE expressed concern for the potential changes coming to Manitoba’s K-12 education system. CUPE fears the government is considering radical changes that have the potential to throw the education system into chaos, contemplating simultaneously eliminating elected school trustees, merging or eliminating school divisions and considering changes to the funding model for education in Manitoba.

As we come to the end of the year, we want to send our warmest holiday greetings and sincere thanks to all CUPE members, local leaders, activists and staff. Every community in the province is stronger because of the work CUPE Manitoba members do each and every day.
While we celebrate with our families and friends, many CUPE members will be at work over the holidays to provide the services that Manitobans rely on.
Today, the CUPE Manitoba Young Workers’ Committee together with CUPE Local 2153 continued its annual tradition of giving, by donating hundreds of toys for kids and teens in the care of Child and Family Services.
“We’re part of this community and we hope these toys and gifts will make this holiday a bit brighter for the hundreds of Manitoba kids and teens who may not otherwise receive a present this year,” said Gord Delbridge, President of CUPE Manitoba.
