CUPE Manitoba looks forward to bringing CUPE's spirit of Frontline Pride to celebrations across Manitoba this month, from Flin Flon to Steinbach and many places in-between.
Our activities kicked off at the Union Centre in Winnipeg on May 24th with a flag raising ceremony in which CUPE Manitoba 2SLGBTQI+ Committee Co-Chair Bryce Byron (CUPE Local 2348) spoke alongside Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and Deputy Premier and Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara.
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024 the United Way Winnipeg and Winnipeg District Labour Council presented their annual community labour awards to individual labour activists and presented certificates of recognition and excellence to unions for their fundraising efforts.
The event was held at Winnipeg's Union Centre and honoured guests included Minister of Labour Malaya Marcelino, Minister of Advanced Education and Training Renée Cable, and several NDP MLAs as well as labour-friendly city councillors.

November 20th is the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR)
We remember and honour Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people around the world whose lives have been lost due to hatred and oppression and lack of appropriate health care and social supports.
CUPE SCFP renews its commitment to fighting transphobia in all its forms -- including discrimination, harassment and violence.
CUPE Manitoba joins CUPE National, the Federal NDP, and millions around the world in calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The ongoing genocide in Gaza by the Israel Defense Force must stop, and world leaders including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau must take up the call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to Israel's illegal occupation.
Calling all women and gender diverse members!
The 2023 Grace Hartman Women and Gender Rights Conference celebrates the legacy of Canada’s first woman to be elected as national leader of a major union. Grace helped build CUPE as a fighting union, and opened the door to solidarity and inclusion of diverse voices in the work of our union.

As the school year begins, CUPE education support workers are here to help. CUPE members help kids get to school safely, keep schools healthy and clean, provide resources students need to succeed, provide extra support for students who need it, and help schools run efficiently. CUPE members focus on these things so that parents and families don’t have to.
A Message from CUPE Manitoba President, Gina McKay
Recently in Manitoba, we have seen groups working to condemn and violate human rights, limiting gender/sexual health, and pushing to ban books in our province.
While we celebrate advances made, we must always be cognizant that there is still a long way to go and that in each of our communities, there continues to be people fuelled by fear, hate, and trans/homophobia that will work to remove rights and the dignity of those they deem different from themselves.
We are very happy to spotlight some of the incredible speakers who will be presenting to CUPE Manitoba delegates next week at our 59th Annual Convention.
